Urinary Incontinence Therapy

Urinary incontinence, painful intercourse, and pelvic floor muscle weakness can affect women of all ages. Research has shown that women who receive physical therapy can improve their symptoms.

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland offers a Urinary Incontinence/Pelvic Pain program for conservative treatment of pelvic floor muscular weakness and dysfunction.  A female therapist provides treatment in a relaxing and private environment.

Conditions treated include but are not limited to:

  • Stress/Urge Urinary Incontinence
  • Pelvic Floor Muscle weakness
  • Nocturia
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse
  • Post-surgical complications
  • Post-pregnancy muscle weakness
  • Pelvic Pain due to muscle tightness/weakness

Licensure and Certification
Our Physical Therapists are licensed by the State of Michigan and have been trained and certified by the American Physical Therapy Association in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction.
