Urinary Incontinence Therapy

Urinary incontinence, painful intercourse, and pelvic floor muscle weakness can affect men and women of all ages. Research has shown that those who receive physical therapy can reduce their symptoms.

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland offers a Urinary Incontinence/Pelvic Pain program for conservative treatment of pelvic floor muscular weakness and dysfunction.  A female therapist provides treatment in a relaxing and private environment.

Conditions treated include but are not limited to:

  • Stress/Urge Urinary Incontinence
  • Pelvic Floor Muscle weakness
  • Nocturia
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse
  • Post-surgical
  • Post-pregnancy muscle weakness
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Constipation
  • Bowel incontinence

Licensure and Certification
Our Physical Therapists are licensed by the State of Michigan and have bobtained the certification of achievement in pelvic physical therapy, CAPD-PF, by the American Physical Therapy Association.
