Pain Management and Palliative Care Center

At St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) our Pain
Management and Palliative Care center is a holistic and functional program
with a focus on ending chronic pain and helping patients toward
an improved quality of life through compassionate care.
Our center creates a plan of pain management care unique to every patient, based on a multidisciplinary team approach offering doctors of anesthesiology, neurology, neuropsychiatry and psychiatry as well as nurses, physical and occupational therapists, healing touch nurses, social workers and chaplains who regularly review and provide recommendations to the treatment plan.
Relieving the suffering of the body, mind and spirit
Pain Management and Palliative Care Center services are designed to:
- Provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms for patients.
- Incorporate psychological and spiritual aspects of care.
- Assist each patient with developing a support system by involving the family in the plan of care.
Our program goals are to improve each individual patient’s quality of life as well as assist in the understanding of their medical problems and prevent the need for hospital admissions. Current insurance reimbursement for the Pain Management and Palliative Care Center include:
- Medicare.
- Medicaid.
- Great Lakes Health Plan.
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
