emergency services are available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a

Emergency Center
SJMO’s Emergency Center offers a vast
array of processes and procedures designed to get the most beneficial
treatment to the most needful patients in the shortest amount of time.
And that includes SJMO’s dedicated 20-minute promise. We
promise that you will be seen by a helpful doctor within 20 minutes
of your arrival at our Emergency Center, if not sooner.
The multiple services we offer include the entire Emergency Center, designed to respond to your emergency fast. The SJMO emergency center has:
- 39 private treatment cubicles.
- 42,000 annual emergency visits.
- A 19-bed Clinical Decision Unit.
- 5,000 annual observation visits.
- Two resuscitation bays.
- DECON room.
- Intradepartmental X-ray suite.
- Electronic medical record and patient tracking.
- Board-certified emergency physicians.
And at SJMO, our outcome indicators prove that SJMO delivers the highest quality care in cardiovascular and neurovascular sciences of any other hospital in the county.
Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
The Clinical Decision Unit provides an option
for patients who require additional treatment and observation following
their emergency visit.
- Patients usually will stay in the CDU for less than 24 hours and thus avoid a hospital stay charge.
- The unit has 19 beds.
- Rooms are made comfortable with phones and televisions.
St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s Emergency Center also reaches out into the community with multiple services and programs and is the “base hospital” to several local fire departments and EMS agencies.
