Craig C. Spangler, DDS
The Director of the SJMO General Practice Residency in Dentistry is Craig C. Spangler, DDS. After graduation from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Dr. Spangler was a resident in the SJMO General Practice Residency Program. He started his private practice in 1980, and continued on the hospital staff, working with residents in the previous program. He utilized his residency experience in treating adult mentally and physically impaired patients in both private practice and in the operating room under general anesthesia.
Dr. Spangler has held many positions within organized dentistry. He is past President of the Oakland County Dental Society, and has been active on several committees of the Michigan Dental Association. He has also been a member of the American Academy of Hospital Dentistry, and Special Care Dentistry for over 25 years.
He has lectured and published on several topics. At the University of Michigan, he has lectured in the GPR program, and to junior dental students. Topics included treatment planning for mentally and physically impaired adults, treating dementia patients, and other topics related to special needs patients.
Dr. Spangler has practiced for over 30 years in Bloomfield Hills, treating adults and children. The services he provides range from basic to the most complex. This has provided the opportunity for a wide range of experiences in meeting patient needs, and access to valuable knowledge for the young dentist.
