Outreach Programs
SJMO is truly committed to the Trinity Health mission, which calls for the hospital to improve the health of our communities. One way we concretely demonstrate our commitment is through offering regular free breast cancer screening clinics that are open to women age 40 and over who need a screening mammogram, have no health insurance and reside in Oakland County.
Our free screenings are made possible, in part, by donations from the Pink Ribbon Trailblazers (http://www.pinkribbontrailblazers.com), a grass roots group of men and women who raise funds to help provide mammograms for uninsured and underserved women in Oakland County at SJMO.
We also offer education programs to community groups on breast cancer and breast health issues.SJMO partners with local churches and groups to provide free community-wide screenings to detect other cancers, such as colorectal and prostate.
Support Groups
There is no doubt that a breast cancer diagnosis can be devastating at first. We not only offer the medical resources needed to fight cancer, we offer support groups to help our patients cope with cancer, as well
Support groups bring patients with breast cancer and survivors together to share information, coping tips, experiences and emotions/feelings.Many find support groups give them hope and faith and help them know they are not alone in their fears and feelings.
