St. Joseph Mercy Oakland will offer free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women on eight dates in 2014.
A limited number of openings will be available each date for women who meet the following criteria:
- Reside in Oakland County
- Have no health insurance or are underinsured
- Need a mammogram
- Are age 40 or older or have a palpable mass (one that can be felt)
Saturday clinics will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the following dates for those without a physician’s order:
January 24, 2014
April 12, 2014
July 12, 2014
October 11, 2014
Wednesday clinics will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. the following dates for those WITH a physician’s order:
March 19, 2014
June 4, 2014
September 10, 2014
Nov 12, 2014
Call 800-372-6094 to pre-register for one of the clinics. Pre-registration is required and is accepted on a first call, first served basis starting approximately eight weeks prior to each clinic.
All clinics are held in the Alice Gustafson Center on the hospital campus, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac.
The clinics are supported, in part, by the Pink Ribbon Trailblazers, a grassroots community group that funds mammograms for uninsured and underserved women in Oakland County.
Free Breast Cancer Awareness Month
St. Joseph Mercy Oakland will offer its annual free Breast Cancer Awareness Month program, "Prevent, Protect, Prevail," Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Franco Communications Center at the north end of the hospital.
Presentations during the educational and inspirational evening will focus on New Treatment Options for Radiation Therapy, Targeted Therapy, Breast Imaging and more. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
The program is open to breast cancer patients, survivors, family members, friends and anyone touched by breast cancer or those who want to know more about breast health. Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. Call 800-372-6094 to register.
