Port Huron, Mi…St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron will hold a FREE public information seminar on Thursday, March 22, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., in Sandusky exploring the advanced benefits of minimally invasive partial knee resurfacing and total hip replacement procedures offered exclusively at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron. Gerald Jerry, MD, of the Bone and Joint Institute, PC, will provide the medical presentation. Free hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron is the first hospital in region, and the second in the state of Michigan to perform MAKOplasty®, a minimally invasive robotic partial knee resurfacing procedure used to treat early to mid-stage osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. St. Joseph Mercy is also the first hospital in the state of Michigan to launch MAKOplasty® robotic assisted total hip replacement surgery service designed to treat patients with Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD).
MAKOplasty®, powered by the RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic system, provides the region's only extensive surgeon assisted robotic surgery programs. Featured medical speaker, Gerald Jerry, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in the management of arthritis, as well as hip, shoulder, and knee replacement. Dr. Jerry has been in private practice in Port Huron for more than 20 years. Dr. Jerry is one of a total of nine surgeons performing the robotic partial knee resurfacing, and one of five performing the new robotic total hip surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron.
