The St. Joe's Cancer Center is nationally recognized for quality, with accreditations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and American College of Radiology for our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.With the opening of our new Cancer Resource and Support Center (CRSC), patients at risk for cancer, the newly diagnosed patient, those in treatment and those in survivorship have the availability of a full continuum of services in an environment of patient comfort and dignity. Located on the first floor of the Alice Gustafson Center on the hospital's campus, the CRSC serves as a comfortable “one-stop-shop” for information and education on cancer topics, social support and counseling, as well as complementary therapies and classes. Among the services offered are: American Cancer Society-trained cancer resource volunteers to provide educational information and guidance, new patient orientation classes, nurse navigators, financial navigator, genetic counselor, survivorship nurse practitioner, registered dietitian, integrated therapy, support groups and community forums. For patients who have chronic and non-healing wounds, SJMO instituted the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine . Located on the second floor of the Alice Gustafson Center on the hospital's campus, the center uses advanced therapies for wound care treatment, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our team of multi-disciplinary specialists will provide patients with access to evidence-based therapies to improve their quality of life.

To maintain the highest level of excellence, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland is preparing for the future with the development of an eight-story, contemporary-styled South Patient Tower. The new tower will feature 208 private, technologically integrated and enhanced patient care rooms, providing plenty of support space for family and friends who are vital to the healing process. Completion of the project is scheduled for Spring 2014.
