St. Joseph Mercy Oakland to Host 56th Annual
Allen Silbergleit Md Clinic Day for Physicians
Event Theme Is ‘The Vision and Voice of Women’s Health’
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will host its 56th annual Allen Silbergleit MD, Clinic Day for physicians on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the hospital’s Franco Communications Center, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac. The day will begin with registration and continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Theme for this year’s Clinic Day is “The Vision and Voice of Women.” Nurses and allied health professionals are welcome.
Clinic Day is named in honor of Allen Silbergleit, MD, PhD, FACS, SJMO’s program director emeritus, Department of Surgery, and former chair, Division of General Surgery. He also is a member of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
In 2005, SJMO renamed the annual Clinic Day program in honor of Dr. Silbergleit, long-serving chair of the Clinic Day committee and 40-year tenure director of the Surgery Residency program. For his accomplishments in Graduate Medical Education, Dr. Silbergleit was awarded the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

SJMO nephrologist and Clinic Day Chair Usman Master, MD, FACP, will chair the gathering. The program also includes SJMO President and CEO Jack Weiner, SJMO Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs Michael Smith, DO; SJMO Chief of Staff Ingida Asfaw, MD, FACS; and Clinic Day Honorary Chair Dr. Silbergleit.
SJMO Clinic Day committee members include Dr. Silbergleit; Usman Master, MD, FACP, Clinic Day Chair; Frank Bagnasco, MD, Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee; Benjamin Diaczok, MD, Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency; Stanley Dorfman, MD, Director of Medical Student Education, Nitin Doshi, MD, FACC; Wilbur Smith Jr., MD, Director of Medical Education; Amy Kirby, MD, Mary Jo Malafa, MD, Mary Ann Verardi, MD, Kathy Kvasnak, Marketing Specialist and Karen Parrott, Continuing Medical Education Coordinator.
