St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Offers Free Fitness Program For Senior Adults At Three Sites
Promoting a Healthier Lifestyle Focus of Program
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) has openings for its free Senior Fit program at three sites in Oakland County.
Senior Fit is aimed at improving stamina, lowering blood pressure and decreasing the risk of osteoporosis among senior adults through regular exercise. It is geared for adults age 55 and up. The program uses chair and floor exercises that build strength and flexibility, help maintain strong bones, control body fat, reduce stress and improve an individual’s sense of well-being.
An initiative of SJMO’s Senior Services, Senior Fit registrations are free. The program, which includes a one-hour session, three days a week for 14 weeks, will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the following locations:
Sessions are filled on a first call, first served basis. Openings are limited. The winter session begins the week of Jan. 9 and ends April 13. A Senior Fit consent form must be signed by each participant’s physician prior to the first class. Consent forms may be picked up at each exercise site. Individuals must register to participate in the free sessions.
