ST. JOSEPH MERCY OAKLAND TO HOST ANNUAL CLINIC DAY FOR PHYSICIANS
Event Theme Is 'Geriatrics: Unique Care Needs of an Aging Population
Pontiac, Mich.- St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will host its 54th annual Allen Silbergleit MD, Clinic Day for physicians on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at the hospital's Franco Communications Center, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac. The day will begin with registration and continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Theme for this year's Clinic Day is "Geriatrics: Unique Care Needs of an Aging Population."
Clinic Day is named in honor of Dr. Silbergleit, SJMO's program director emeritus, Department of Surgery, and chair, Division of General Surgery. He also is a member of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
In 2005, SJMO renamed the annual Clinic Day program in honor of Dr. Silbergleit, long-serving chair of the Clinic Day committee and 40-year tenure director of the Surgery Residency program. For his accomplishments in graduate medical education, Dr. Silbergleit was awarded the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Usman Master, MD, Chair of the SJMO Department of Medicine, will chair the gathering. The program also includes SJMO President and CEO Jack Weiner, SJMO Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs Don Bignotti, MD, and SJMO Chief of Staff Nitin C. Doshi, MD.
Ann Suziedelis, SJMO Vice President of Mission and Ethics, will give the reflection.
SJMO Clinic Day committee members include Dr. Silbergleit; Dr. Master; Frank Bagnasco, MD, Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee; Benjamin Diaczok, MD, Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency; Mary Jo Malafa, MD, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine; Kenneth Richter, DO, Director of Osteopathic Medical Education; Stanley Dorfman, MD, Director of Medical Education; and Karen Parrott, Continuing Medical Education Coordinator.
The event is supported in part by The Helen Castle Booster Fund and the SJMO Medical Staff.
