St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Orthopedic Program
Our performance speaks for itself. Joint Care Center patients spend less time in the hospital than patients in similar programs around the country. Most patients resume normal activities such as walking, driving and shopping in less than three weeks.
- Over 90 percent of our patients are able to leave the hospital to return home rather than to a rehabilitation or extended care facility.
- 98 percentof our total knee replacement patients can safely go up and down multiple stairs by themselves after an average of only nine visits by a home care physical therapist.
- 99 percentof our total hip replacement patients can safely go up and down multiple stairs by themselves after an average of only eight visits by a home care physical therapist.
- Under our home care services, less than 1 percent of patients require readmission to the hospital.
